The Belly Up is excited to announce that this year’s Commodore’s Ball will take place at the historic club for the first time on Sunday, July 2nd. An annual tradition started by North County locals in 1983, the evening will feature an exciting parade of bands, DJs, and prizes to celebrate the 4th of July and raise money for a local charity.
Headlining the show will be Los Beautiful Beast, a local rock band who recently released their first album of all original material, and features several members Borracho y Loco (a local favorite band that played the club regularly in the 90’s). “The Commodore’s Ball is a great night and a veritable who's who of local color and talent,” says lead singer Jake Brewer. “It's a delicious chaos salad that should be eaten, thrown up, and eaten again"
Also featured will be Rand Anderson Band, Gusto, and DJ Britton, and the evening will be hosted by the mysterious A.K., who has been recently banned from other local establishments. Prizes will include t-shirts, meals at local restaurants, tickets to future Belly Up shows, and an inflatable yacht. Also that evening, the GFUYC will crown the 2017 commodore for their 34th annual 4th of July regatta.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Show starts at 8pm. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to La Colonia de Eden Gardens, a local non-profit that helps children and families in Solana Beach.
